Spring has Sprung

Only a couple of weeks until daylight saving start again (it starts too early and ends too late)

Nice warm spring day today

Humidity is less than 20% so it feels really nice. No sign of rain during the next week either.

There is no moisture in the ground at all the grass is going that delightful shade of brown that says, "...don't mow me until it rains a lot".

Re: Spring has Sprung

I think Bruce should be banned from posting anything about spring, or warm weather, at least until our cold, wet, gloomy , winter is over,
( going to sit in the corner and sulk)..

Well to try to cheer you up the Hume Highway (main road between Sydney and Melbourne) was closed in both directions this morning because of a bush fire north of Canberra.

Re: Spring has Sprung

The hottest September day on record in New South Wales was set in 2004 at 39.6C, however Andrew Hague from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said several towns had reached 40C and beyond today.

Personally I am going to have to change my winter doona for a summer one immediately if I am to get any sleep tonight.

BTW The New South Wales Rural Fire Service (RFS) said the blaze at Paddy's River, near Wingello, crossed the highway but the threat to property had eased. It was downgraded to Advice level at 6:00pm.

After several hours of closure about 160 kilometres west of Sydney and east of Canberra, the Hume Highway has reopened.

A total fire ban will be in place again for many parts of NSW tomorrow.

Re: Spring has Sprung

Dear Bruce,

Stop it.

The lauding of your spring arrival means the too-soon-to-arrive weather here. Nooooooooo!

Wishing you rain to squelch those fires, though.

Sincerely,
Your Northern Hemispheric Forum Friends

P.S. Very interesting reports and photos! Thanks for sharing.
