Gutter question

Our guttering around the caravan is broken in places, we were going to replace it but it's attached under the eaves in such a way we would have to break the roof to get it off. So that's not feasible. So we are going to repair.

My query is what's best product to stick two bits of guttering together ? It's only at the joins it's come apart, so pushed back together it's fine but it comes apart again as it rains. My husband tried a couple of glue products both didn't work at all well. So we are scraping that off.

Need advice on best glue or filler to make it stay together for longer than a week.

Any help most gratefully received.

Re: Gutter question

Coupling ... that's the term I was thinking of.

Been non-DIY I'd think of using this super waterproof bonding glue you can get with a small inserted sleeve of plastic to bridge/strengthen the two suspect ends together.

I stuck a front door together once with tetrion and brown sticky tape and it lasted longer than the surrounding rotten porch.

Re: Gutter question

The last picture is exactly what we have but it extends under the eaves further, OK not technically the same you will say

I think the bit under the eaves is about six inches into the roof, we are unsure the make of the van but looking around the caravan site no one else has guttering like it.

Re: Gutter question

Has the union(coupling) got the rubber seals intact?
I'm guessing not if it comes away at the union.

It may just be a case of replacing the seals.

If not Aquaseal is the stuff to use.

Re: Gutter question

All the joints are held together by what looks like mastic you put round a shower tray. Not the best but you had to get on a ladder to look inside them to see it.

Re: Gutter question

As TPin advises, or I got this.

In this cool weather, try to dry the gutter surface as much as possible and indeed use a hairdrier on the flashband soften the bitumen side to make it more tacky before and after sticking it in place.
