American taste and discretion

One of my hobbies is leatherwork, and I use this website, which is American www.leatherworker.net

Someone has just started a thread asking for advice on how to trim his new flatscreen TV set with exotic leather - ostrich, lizard, alligator, or python
The fact that some of these will cost $120 per square foot doesn't seem to bother him

Am I being snobbish in finding this tacky?
Or does this just show the difference in British and American tastes?

Hes probably looking for an indivisual look,, nothing wrong with that ,each to their own as regards taste ,thats my view.

Exotic animal skins/scales/fur all look better on their original owners in my opinion. To use them for 'trimming a TV set' is just tacky.

OK, so leather is also a skin and, yes, I wear leather shoes. I do not regard that as being hypocritical because leather comes from animals that are killed for food - not for fun - and it would be disrespectful to that animal to waste any of its by-products.

My son has just bought this wooden keyboard and mouse, I haven't seen these before, I think it looks great, just hope it doesn't get woodworm.
