Hi Mups..

More than frustrating, bloody irriting and makes me feel useless

Just been for a class of water and put my nose under the sink, no smell as I didn't let the water run into the sink.
Weird.

Re a plumber, I had a chap come to check on my bath tap a couple of years ago. He took the tap apart (about 2mins), told me the barrel is apparently obsolete now.
Charged me £60 and left.

So, I'm loathe to get a plumber back for fear of being rippped off.

I need a man!

Pull out the "skirting" boards at the bottom of your kitchen units. You might find a dead mouse under there.

If it's an 'earthy' smell, it sounds more like a leak somewhere to me.

If it's an earthy smell, it's normally always caused by damp / a leak.
