Wool pellets

Has anyone tried these as an alternative to using poisonous slug pellets?
I thought it looked interesting.

Hiya Mups

That looks interesting. I'm just wondering if you could use cat litter pellets which would also swell?

Re: Wool pellets

I used them last year.
They smell absolutely disgusting.
Not particularly effective.

Oh dear.

That's the trouble, not much seems to work apart from the dreaded slug pellets.

There was a woman on TV talking about slugs/snails and she said that copper was good deterrent. The presenter laid the copper strip on the table and the snail walked straight over it.

Re: Wool pellets

I used them once and the slugs just fell asleep on them and then I could go around with my stainless steel hammer and smash them to death in their sleep!!

Re: Wool pellets

I'm working on something at the moment (all top secret for now) but will let you know the results.

What I need to know is, where do snails and slugs appear from at night? Do they live behind walls and fences during the day or underground?

Re: Wool pellets

Dongles, are we going to have a world famous inventor in our midst?

In the meantime, have a look at this alan Titchmarsh video about the wool pellets.

Ruthio, the pong is because they are a mixture of wool + sheep poo.

What worries me about the traditional slug pellets, is the other creatures they kill as well, it's not just slugs.

I'd be too worried about my dogs eating them anyway, but it's the birds and hedgehogs and anything else that eats the snails that get poisoned too.
