Re: Missing Student

The fact that the arrested guy is a butcher is even more worrying!

Re: Missing Student

So her friends put her in a taxi for home, but the driver didn't take her home?

Re: Missing Student

Not sure, but I believe they said on the news that when the police were questioning him, it was one of those "No comment" interviews.

Why are people allowed to get away with that?

Oh I see. Difficult for the driver then.
I suppose taxi drivers don't necessarily have a duty of care do they?

The Options available at a Police Interview
In a police interview, a suspect can progress in the following manner:
Provide a ‘no comment’ interview (exercise their right to silence)
Answer some police questions
Answer all police questions
Make a prepared statement
The course of action to take is individual and a ‘one size fits all’ approach is not appropriate. It is crucial that the correct decision is made at the police interview so that the correct foundation can be created for the case, should the case progress to trial.
It is crucial that you instruct a solicitor to represent you at the police station as your lawyer will be best placed on the correct course of action to take.

No they don’t ,especially if they’re with a woman too drunk to stand as was noted . You can imagine possible scenarios these days ?

Yes, I can imagine the driver being filmed on CCTV, trying to help the girl to her door, perhaps with his arm round her trying to support her.
Could easily be miscontrued.

Hi

There are a few exceptions.

It is an offence not to give encryption details in cases involving Child Abuse.

Certain regulatory bodies and agencies can insist on answers being given.

Any information given cannot be used in evidence against the person giving it, but it is a Criminal Offence not to give the information.

This is an important exception, rarely used but essential to protect public safety.

I was never Police , never had the power of arrest, but had to comply with PACE when interviewing.

It came as something as a shock to some that not answering my questions could land them a jail sentence or an unlimited fine.
