Poor you, I'm up too as it hurts too much to lie in bed. Anyway this link may help you as it has a good bit about self help.

Re: Sciatica pain

This is an awful pain I know, as I suffer from it myself frequently, but usually when I get moving it eases of it's own accord, although I do admit to using co-codomol to help it on it's way.

It is awful Doc - pain pen helps but difficult to use on your own but not impossible
Pain gels can give some relief - go to Boots and ask the pharmacist to recommend a gel
All the best

Re: Sciatica pain

I had reflexology and it worked ,twice I went and never had it since. But you need someone who diagnoses conditions by feeling and working the feet , not just for relaxation . Hope it helps

Re: Sciatica pain

When I had it I asked to be referred for physio and the exercises they gave me really worked wonders, I just do them again a few times if it flares up and it saves me taking even more painkillers than I already do.

Re: Sciatica pain

I don't like taking tablets so I use a pain killing gel called Voltarol.

I like Voltarol too - my preferred one is very expensive and difficult to find, so its a matter of trying others

Re: Sciatica pain

Suffered from this after an injury doing Judo. Had years of pain, a GP told me to crawl around on my hands and knees it would help. However i took up walking helped build up the damaged muscle that allowed the nerve to be trapped, and it did seem to do the trick.

My body would react very badly, one side would curl up.
