Well we should have taken a more active part in determining the direction of travel instead of not bothering to participate and then complaining about the way it turned out.

Could you please explain how, exactly, we could have done that?

We have a certain number of MEPs, but they are heavily outnumbered by those of the other 27 countries.

What's more, the European Parliament has no real power; it can only discuss and debate. The real power lies in the hands of the European Commission.

Have a look at this list:
https://ec.europa.eu/commission/comm...s/2014-2019_en
How many of them are from the UK?

Tell me how we could possibly 'determine the direction of travel' being so heavily outnumbered!

Exactly. You don't know because we couldn't possibly.

Hi

We are a very big contributor to the EU.

Of course we could have thrown our weight around and changed things.

We didn't, so we are leaving.

This will cost us money, it already has.

That is down to the incompetence of our Politicians.

Blair, then Brown and the worst of all,Cameron.

We tell, we do not ask.

I had no issues with the Common Market, as you say, just a way of making trading easier with less red tape.
It is important to understand that if you want free trade and a single market there has to by necessity be political and social alignments as well.I think most people of differing view points accept that

One without the other just won't work unless you want chaos.

Business cannot operate without the regulation of standards. So in order to create a level playing field with the movement and creation of labour money and trade which is only fair, a political marriage has to be created along side it.

That's all the EU actually is an alignment of nations pooling sovereignty for their mutual benefit.

EU Countries never relinquish their own sovereignty which is retained through parliamentary process. Federalism was never on the agenda except in the mindset of some UK media and politicians.

Britain clearly made a choice to leave exercising their independent sovereignty.

However that does not make that choice the right one for the nation.

Hi

Federalism was on the Agenda.

You only have to look at the statements of Juncker and Co.

The EU Army for one,Germany and Luxembourg contribute nowhere near enough to NATO.

They are both very rich Countries, who rely on others.

Alignment of Corporation Tax and VAT on Food.

The EU threatening Poland with Sanctions after a democratic vote to change their laws.

The insistence that EU Countries take a quota of Economic Migrants that Germany does not want.

What more do you want?

Strange how we used to manage to do that when it was the EEC, before it became the political dictatorship.
