Re: appointment

I know it is mad isn't it. When I had my eye done it cost £96 to get there by public transport ! And yes not allowed to drive after so I was lucky enough to get my husband to drive round on his way from one job to another and take me home but why it couldn't have been done locally I cannot fathom especially as the surgeon is based at our local hospital

Re: appointment

Yes, I would wait too - maybe your doctor knew there would be a wait but, should have given 'you' the option ....

Re: appointment

I had my eyes done.
I had to travel 250 ks to the hospital
I had to have a Carer, $200 a day for 2 days
A motel suitable for the carer $220 for the night.
Then the Eye operation, All up $3800.
Yes that was for One eye $4420
Then I had to have the other eye done, Another $4420
This was the cost I had to pay after rebates.
But I feel it was money well spent. I now have Excellent vision which will last me till I die.
I do sometimes need reading glasses sometimes in dark areas or when the print is that small, But not perscription glasses, Cheepies from the discount shops.

Re: appointment

You can always ask for a car to pick you up. Most hospitals have access to one.

Yes if there is another option to eleviate the waiting time then they would be right to offer you that appointment.
You are not obliged to take that appointment and if you prefer to wait for an appointment at the hospital of your choice then it is your right to do so.

Yes but only for the local area we were told, and we were very much not local.
