We undervalue our engineers , builders , mechanics, those who we rely on.

Instead we have a generation of Media Studies etc who are no use at all in the real world.

Literally thousands of Environmental Studies Graduates expecting to start as an EHO on £30k a year.

They are sadly disappointed, no use or ornament.

A Sports Science Graduate, expecting to find a job here in Prees, no chance.

We have gone sadly wrong.

We should not be charging to train in jobs which we need, just go back to the old system.

I was not charged, I simply had to agree to work for years to pay it off.
But, getting back to more important matters, you could win Miss World.

Re: Nhs

I see no sense in Media studies at university , other than to bring in MONEY. some unis dont even offer them . There are so many well paid jobs out in the wide world that do not need a degree. I bet many of those that go to Uni. have no idea what they want to do ,its just an excuse for them to have a good time. I DO NOT include all students in that , but there are more than I think we would like to know

I agree.

'Social Studies' used to be the one that everyone joked about. Like the graffiti above a toilet roll in the student lavatories:

"Social Studies degrees. Please take one."

Re: Nhs

I have argued for years that education is only a tool, so given an education or a tool box, some will be able to use them, given to others is a total waste of time.

I have met some, what I call, professional students, that flit from course to course rather than work.

Time was when a prospective student had to obtain at least three appropriate A-levels, and that was in the days when A-levels were difficult.

Now, kids are leaving with a string of the much easier ones and the universities, being more interested in financial income than abilities, welcome them with open arms.

BLiar, of course. He's the one who dumbed everything down and pushed for 50% of all school leavers to go to university.
