The Clangers

Is it my ears, my telly or just me? Does anyone else have problems with the incidental so-called music and signature tunes on programmes? This morning I was half watching the BBC consumer programme with Angela Rippon et al, when I was awoken out of my reverie with something that went CLANGEDY-CLANG CLANG, CLANG CLANG CLANG!!!!!!! (then the presenters started talking at a reasonable volume.....)

OK, this is the Grumpy thread, but don't get me started on the theme tunes for Doctors, and the WAH! show.

Anyone else bothered with this? Perhaps we should get together and picket the BBC until they turn the row down!

I think they just do it to wake us up and pay attention. Works on my husband every time.

Re: The Clangers

trouble is most of it is not music, just a racket, a cacophony of overloud irritating discordant clamour

Re: The Clangers

This is a bugbear with my OH....he doesn't have perfect hearing and so called 'backround music' that drowns out the dialogue is uneccessary and I can quite see his point.

Subtle backround music while action is happening is one thing, but music drowning out speech NO.
