Not a happy ending!

Lovely story with a happy ending on the thread from Alberta S. Unfortunately not all such stories end so well -

Re: Not a happy ending!

Its one reason why many of us would like to see more regulation of breeding.
Its also why I constantly tell people not to buy from back yard breeders or breeder who churn out litter after litter from the same pair of dogs.

I would love to see online sales sites and small ads dealing in live animals banned.

Re: Not a happy ending!

So heart wrenching. We got Beau from Many Tears animal rescue, where they are seen by vets and treated. Animals that have a problem are taken into foster care until better and ready to be rehomed a he was.
The tragic puppies such as in the video are bought from puppy farms, usually via the internet. Some pet shops also sold puppies from farms.

Please don't ever buy any animal this way and do make sure that you see it with it's mother and in it's home situation.

Re: Not a happy ending!

That's the purpose of our campaign Alberta - to try to convince the public not to buy from dodgy breeders. Unfortunately something like 98% of the dogs we take in to our rescue are from these appalling "pet" breeders. We found out today that one of Petal's sisters has malformed knees as well as very shallow hip joints, and will probably require surgery.
