Re: Trump pulls out....

Well everyone's speculating when he'll reintroduce sanctions against Iran.
If and when he does he'll be roping in a lot of EU companies that now do business with them ... so I guess ... bad for a lot of people.

Regarding the maze of politics in the Middle East itself ... specifically between Iran and Israel, I'd say also considered bad for future stability.

He wants to introduce them with immediate effect, but it will still take circa 6 months to go through.

Re: Trump pulls out....

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out ... politically and even maybe militarily.
I'm tempted to say .. turn your eyes from the old Iraq war .. or the tail end of the Syrian War and .. here we go again!

Netanyahu is pleased at any rate ...no surprises there as Iran is Israel's arch enemy and Trump is their current bosom buddy.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel "greatly appreciates" Trump's decision.

Moments before Trump approached the White House podium, Reuters quoted Israeli officials as saying they had just spotted Iranian military movements in Syria.

The Israel Defence Forces have reportedly instructed local authorities to prepare open shelters in the north following suspicious Iranian movements near Israeli-held Golan.

The IDF has warned any aggression against Israel will be met with a severe response.

Re: Trump pulls out....

As far as I'm aware, the Iranian people have seen no benefits from the agreement. It could be alleged that the Government have used additional funds gained to secretly fund nuclear research. They have developed nuclear capable missiles already, and the agreement as far as I'm aware did not restrict them from obtaining enriched plutonium.

It's a pity his dad didn't pull out before he was born.

Re: Trump pulls out....

Since his agressive behaviour seemed to galvanize the North Koreans, no doubt pressured by China, into making peaceful noises perhaps it may concentrate the Iranian's thoughts in the same direction. If you are not sure how far the opposition will go you tend to soft peddle a bit.

Hi

Shia versus Sunni.

Sunnis are the ones responsible for 9/11 and every single Terrorist Attack in the UK since Lockerbie.

Sunnis are ISIS.

Iran is absolutely no threat to the UK, best keep out of it.

This might work many of the Iranian people are fed up with their oppressive regime -and it is brutally oppressive .
Although goodness only knows how they will do it.
Iran is the region's chief destabiliser and terror sponsor and maintains proxy fighters such as Hezbollah
Of course with nutcase sympathisers such as Mr Corbyn and co
And the usual anti Israel suspects the world assumes that they are really not really bad guys .
But the are and these sort of regimes only respect one thing strength .( otherwise they would have wiped Israel from the pages of time long ago )
Maybe Trump can swing it.

Re: Trump pulls out....

It helps to have a basic grasp of Middle Eastern politics though Allah knows it's a complex mess to fathom. It's simply not enough to say emotionally that it is despicable the way they rule or live. We don't live there.

The regions worst perpetuators and backers of terrorists are Sunnis. Saudi Arabia. Sunni ... Isis. Al-Qaeda. Many of the rebel factions in the Syrian War ... Sunni.
These are the ones who have attacked the West.
So we have bombed them. Russia have bombed them. Assad has bombed them (though we also bomb Assad too because we don't like the way he runs his country).

This is ... essentially... yet another extension of the on going Shia versus Sunni warring in the ME.

Iran (Shia), along with all the countries that know how to play the diplomatic game of compromise were quite successfully deferring and delaying the inevitable, they all signed up for the 2015 deal.
Basically, how does one country stop another from developing it's own nuclear capability for defence?
You can't. Not indefinitely.

To break it now, as Trump is doing ... leaves a vacuum.
By re-imposing sanctions he will be penalising not just Iran, but all other countries who trade with Iranian companies.
Hence the rush by the EU , and us, to keep the 2015 deal alive. He's made a bad, and a very provocative misjudgement in my view.

Iran, quite sensibly, have been keeping their heads down, playing by the rules and quietly developing their military armament and ability to defend themselves...
As do Israel. No one ever seems to object to that and believe it their right to do so.
The worst war in the ME, should it ever occur, will be the one between Iran and Israel. And an Israel sucking up to Trump is a very dangerous developing trend. The timing of Netanyahu's failed attempt to discredit the Iranians last week seems a bit more than mere coincidence now.

It's a power play with Trump and Netanyahu versus Iran.
Whatever we might think of any regime in the ME is irrelevant. It is their home, not ours.
Leave them to fight it out or make their own peace agreements .... the West has made a hash of it so far.
