Re: Let's Have A General Election ASAP!

The people have spoken.

The powers that be have to act on that.

It must be done with in the Law of the Land.

It will now be taking before Parliament to vote on the terms that will trigger Article 50.

No prob with that as long as we at some time next year trigger article 50 and live the cesspit of the EU

And the Remoaners can then sod off to Germany.

Its been stated that the Germans have lost the streets to the Muslims hoards...bit like Attila and the Romans.

Re: Let's Have A General Election ASAP!

I see preparations for an early General Election are being made as we speak.
Bring it on!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...oes-ahead.html

Ministers 'are preparing for an early general election' after first Conservative MP resigned in protest at Theresa May's handling of Brexit - amid fears more are preparing to quit.
High Court ruled Brexit cannot be triggered without a vote in Parliament.
This prompted hardcore Remainers to vow to frustrate the process.
Some ministers have responded by suggesting Mrs May call an election.
This could allow her to increase Conservative majority to back Brexit.

No such thing as a snap election these days.
Parliament must 'sit' for four years before it can be replaced by a 'General' election...that is currently the law of the land

Yes I know that Malcolm.
But to the best of my knowledge the MPs could easily revoke that if they wish.
After all, this thought is being mentioned in all the news broadcasts in respect of the current mess.
And they would not be doing that if an early General Election was not possible.

Early general election: Can Theresa May actually call one?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...-a7132846.html

There are two ways under the FTPA that an election can be called ahead of schedule.

The first is if two thirds of MPs vote to hold an election. This is a very high bar and would in practice require both Labour and Conservative support.

The second is if there is a no confidence vote in the government of the day. After such a vote other parties are given 14 days to form another government. If none can be formed, a new election is held.

___________

And of course I have absolutely no doubt that the Labour and Lib Dem Turkeys would vote for Christmas!

Yes Malcolm.
Doing what has to be done in order to have an early General Election will not be easy. And I never said it was.
Most things in life one wants to achieve are never easy, but work hard enough at it, and the rewards are there.

Inside Politics: A snap general election grows ever more likely

ELECTION fever is suddenly rife at Westminster. Theresa May’s extraordinary constitutional showdown with the High Court over who has the power to trigger Brexit has left MPs wondering whether they will be back on the hustings next spring.

Tory election hawks argue that the Fixed Term Parliament Act introduced under the coalition, which requires the consent of two thirds of MPs for an early election to go ahead, is no serious barrier to going to the country.

Mrs May could either dare Labour to vote against a poll or simply repeal the unloved legislation introduced by former deputy prime minister Nick Clegg.

Yet Mrs May does have alternative options to calling a general election to face down the Remainers. Ministers are already preparing for the possibility of rushing a Bill on triggering Article 50 through Parliament if the Supreme Court upholds this week’s judicial ruling.

In any case.
I think I will give over now in the hope that others will have something to say about this.
