My husband is going through the same at the moment. His doctor told him he may be bleeding internally. A worry for my husband as he has had major abdominal surgery a couple of years ago. The doctor asked him if he wanted more tests or try iron tablets first, a five week course followed by more blood tests. My husband opted for the iron tablets first.

Try not to worry as I think they have to make you aware of the possibility of internal bleeding as an explanation for the anaemia.

Re: swollen stomach

A prolapse is not your fault Sarah.Anyone can get bad constipation without codeine. Please don't blame yourself. It seems they are doing all the right diagnostics. I'm relieved it's not bowel cancer. It could be something like a fibroid that's causing internal bleeding.

When is the scan date?

Re: swollen stomach

I'd follow it up if I were you. You're in great discomfort and in my experience the doctor sometimes needs a nudge. The sooner they do a scan the sooner they can help you feel better.

Re: swollen stomach

I have been told I may have internal bleeding and Dr wants me to see a specialist,I already have an appt .to see someone re a test I had last year [which showed severe inflamation in my abdomen] but Dr wants it brought forward /earlier,so I will have to wait to see what is happening.
