I don't even know the price of those consoles that play downloadable or disc games that attach to the TV but they can't be cheap. (or good for normal childhood development.)

We never got pocket money, we had a large family so not enough money for luxuries.
My grandma gave is nine pence each every Sunday and that paid for a Saturday matinee at the cinema, which cost sixpence and three pence paid for our Saturday sweets. That was the only treat we had but we didn't do jobs for it. We did however have chores at home, for which we were not paid but we did them anyway. I chose to spend my sweet money very carefully and saved a penny for a treat during the week. It taught me to be careful how I spent money and to prioritise.

Same here CeeCee, I had a paper round, started at 6am, 7 days a week for the princely sum of £3 -)

My children had jobs and went to college too.
