Raf 100
Did anyone watch any of the RAF 100 years celebrations this morning. I thought the BBC did an excellent job for once, although I do think they concentrated on the Royals a bit too long and Prince Edward in his uniform with all the medals.... for quitting the Marines
Some great stories and interviews though from our 'old boys'.
The fly past at the end was awe inspiring and took months of planning. Imagine trying to get over a hundred planes to fly over with a 30 second interval when they all fly at different speeds. Apparently, as the first helicopters flew past, the jets were still a hundred miles away.
Also, the new F-35 Lightening Stealth fighter had it's first public outing too.
It's $400,000 helmet is wired into the on board computer, giving the pilot the experience of being able to see through the floor and sides of the plane as if it is invisible but combined with essential graphics.
Amazing stuff and emotional in parts.
