Re: The Strange Case of the Russian Spy.

The whole scenario is very scary.

Not just the presence of the weapon in our midst, but the refusal of Russia to even bother to respond to our ultimatum (did anyone really think they would??)

Another death reported today.

If they can use this stuff here they can use it anywhere with impunity, and its not just our response but that of the entire civilised world that is crucial.

Are the Governments up to it?

What should be their response?

The usual tit for tat expulsion of diplomats no doubt, traditional but not particularly effective.

Banning the substance of course, but will that have any effect?

I say follow the money, kick them hard in their pockets!

Money and property.

I wonder how they got the substance into the country? Isnt there a diplomatic immunity on searching briefcases or something ? Maybe they should scrap that rule straight away.

They are Binary Chemicals, two ingredients mixed together,on their own,no issue.

No issue when they are separate.

This was one of the very nasty ones, it is a powder, not a gas or liquid.

A very fine powder, gets everywhere.

It is blown about and is 5 times stronger than VX or Sarin.

A complete nightmare.

The responsibility of protecting us from this lies with Public Health England, often slagged off on this Forum.

A bunch of overpaid Civil Servants according to some.

They should have their Pensions slashed.

Public Health England have their Headquarters at Porton Down.

The other side of the fence to the Military.

You get what you deserve.

Swim I have to say that, although you were taught to do one sentence statements in your job, and it may have worked well there, it doesn't always give an overall opinion on the forum.

I haven't seen anybody on this thread criticizing a bunch of overpaid Civil Servants, or anybody stating that their pensions should be slashed.....so can you explain who should get what they deserve & why?

Russia spy poisoning: Rudd says inquiry widened to other deaths

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43387499

A string of deaths on UK soil are to be reinvestigated by the police and MI5 after claims of Russian involvement, Home Secretary Amber Rudd says.

BuzzFeed News claimed to have evidence of 14 deaths that were actually murders by the Russian state or mafia allies.

The deaths that Buzzfeed identified include those of Boris Berezovsky, an outspoken critic of the Kremlin and a friend of Alexander Litvinenko - whose death from radiation poisoning caused a long-running diplomatic spat between the UK and Russia - and whistle-blower Alexander Perepilichnyy.
A Buzzfeed journalist, who was interviewed last night on BBC's "Beyond 100 Days", provided a credible viewpoint on the "string of deaths" .....

Hi

This entire class of nerve agents was designed to be undetectable by normal methods.

They are binary agents, made by mixing two less dangerous chemicals together.

Easy to bring into any Country, no need for diplomatic bags.

The stuff that was used was a fine powder, 5 times as toxic as these.

Being a fine powder,it blows about.

If as they say, the nerve agent was applied to the car door, wouldn’t the people planting it, require full protective clothing? Or were these kamikaze agents?
