Best Year I Have Had With Daff's and Tulips.

Now over the years normally my daffs are finished by now.
But last year was the first time that I planted mini daffs with tulips of all things. Tulips for some unknown reason I just have never bothered with.Maybe its because I have been brainwashed to believing they will only grow properly in Holland. So you can imagine my surprise to see them bloom during the day and then close at night for nearly 2 weeks at a time.
At present my back yard is still covered in yellow daffs the tulips have now died off.
The thing that surprised me though was that I have never seen a daffodil with 6 heads and they don't look like dying anytime soon.
I will certainly be buying more.
Has for the crocus and the snowdrops well they are quite the opposite a total washout.

Tulips are my favourite flower, but the sol around here doesn't seem to suit them.

My tulips and daffodils also did well this year, one of the best displays I’ve ever had and they really brightened the garden.

Sadly, they are just about over now but I did enjoy them while they lasted.

I very much like those 'Parrot' tuplips with the beautiful frilled edges.
I love the pure white ones best.
Just taken a picture of mine, and will post it later if it has come out alright.

Meanwhile, these red & yellow ones were lovely this year too.

Are they your own tulips Realspeed?

I like the colour of the first one most, that's pretty.

Re: Best Year I Have Had With Daff's and Tulips.

I believe it was the Prince Regent who uttered the phrase first.
He preferred Brighton.

Anyway, it was a cousin I have in Bognor Regis who alerted me to the dangers of having Giant Japanese Knotweed in your garden.
It was introduced to this country by the Victorian gardeners & delight turned to despair when it's roots attacked buildings and outhouses, even pushing through concrete. Grrr.

banned by "them".

Now, Himalayan Balsam is such a pretty plant. looking like a giant Busy Lizzie, with exploding seed pods & spreading out of control on river banks.
I like it.

What do you think of these incorrigible garden escapees?
