Re: Wildlife Pond or Koi Pond.
I have a pond but only have goldfish. I used to have a few koi at my last address but found that they were not as hardy as the goldies. A proper koi pond requires specialist equipment and no plants whereas a goldfish or wildlife pond needs plants.Re: Wildlife Pond or Koi Pond.
Re: Wildlife Pond or Koi Pond.
LionQueen,..i bought two preformed pond liner, they cost around £30 each,i put them in my self, one has shelving, the other,i found some large rock's in the garden, put those in,so that the frogs, hedgehogs, can find their way out, put gravel at the bottom, so the pond plants can take root,..in total about £50 each,..i am still waiting for the pond skaters to arrive, lol.Re: Wildlife Pond or Koi Pond.
Re: Wildlife Pond or Koi Pond.
LionQueen, all you have to do is dig a hole, but,as Longdogs explained, a lot of dirt comes out,i was lucky,i put my dirt under stones,in my parking bay,the reason being, i opened up my garden,a few year's back,to make an extra car space,so now have two spaces,..it depends what you want really, mine isn't on the same scale as Longdogs, that pond is superior to mine,i just wanted a small wildlife pond,i dont have time to look after fish,as much as I'd love to!...believe it or not,a washing up bowl, sunk into the ground will attract wildlife, ..yes,i think a handyman would give youna reasonable price, I'm lucky to have one,he painted my porch and fitted a connector hose to my down pipe, for water butt and cleaned my windows, £50.
