There must be a happy medium I guess as being dirty can be just as bad for you.

With even stricter infection control in hospitals there seems to be more bugs spreading........... That tells you something.

Time and place for everything ....I wear an apron and clean all surfaces and hands when cooking...

In normal life I kiss my dog!

Re: beware of overcleaning!

Had a funny experience with germ control at the hospital yesterday, used the gel cleaner as directed after I checked in and had a massive allergic reaction to it, can only say I was in the right place as doctors and nurses were there like a shot but think I might give it a miss next time I visit.

Re: beware of overcleaning!

Have you ever watched those Obsessive Compulsive cleaner programmes on TV? The last time I watched it, there was a young woman who was using one and a half bottles of bleach a day! She said she loves the smell! I wonder what she'd think if she knew it was probably damaging her children; wonder if she could stop using so much.

They've been saying for along time that cleaning products are responsible for various new allergies and that the bacterial wipes that kill 99% are not a good thing as a too sterile environment gives kids no chance to develop immunities to normal germs.

Seems to me a basic cleaning routine with good hand washing procedures are probably our best defence.
