Re: a kind act

And it's not just about offering/requiring services. People offer goods, advertise events and someone even asked recently if the nearby roadworks (our local gyratory system, involving changing roads from one way to two way, rebuilding the bus station, and moving bus stops, and changing how you access a road, by a Tube station and two small retail parks) had finished. Some people were able to tell him that yes the works had been completed.

Re: a kind act

A few years ago, the 'community association' was re-established in the village. It runs things like bingo, coffee mornings and an annual fun/sports day. Highlight is the annual steam and vintage vehicle rally that attracts a big croud from the area.

A hundred years ago, this was a thriving, self-contained community, but now it's largely bypassed when it comes to government spending. Preference is being given to the towns within commuting distance of Aberdeen, or which already have core facilities in place.

looks like it's up to ourselves to keep the village going.
