A Peek at Another Star

Just published, this is the most detailed photo ever of another star besides our own. It is the red giant Antares, the brightest star in the constellation Scorpius that can be seen towards the south in the summer.

Truly amazing photographs. I am always really impressed by the quality of modern telescopes. I often wonder if there's someone or some thing staring back at our planet in awe.

A mate in our camera club is really into this sort of stuff, busy spending fortunes on gizmos to photograph the heavens. Interesting read.
