I don't get the big deal about pornography on his computer....if he did make unwanted advances to a female, well that's a different story.

Good most people in most walks of life would have been sacked immediately. Even playing a football game on a computer where I work ended badly for the worker, disciplinariies and censure. I can't imagine if it had been porn he would have kept his job.

A hospital consultant who I worked for faced disciplinary action for accessing porn on our office computer, for 15 seconds, whist looking for some research he was doing. Obviously the system was set up to flag indiscretions, it was even leaked to the local paper.

AT most companies, and indeed the whole of the civil service, it's a sackable offence. It's a work computer, and viewing porn while working is not an appropriate activity (for most people not in the porn industry itself), it's basically a sexual activity, even with your pants zipped up.

If it was his own computer at home, that's a different matter, no-one's saying having or viewing porn is the issue, it's the inappropriateness of it at work that's the issue.

The lying is par for the course for politicians, but usually they're more creative with it, so it's not complete 100% outright lying and traditionally they've faced consequences when caught out doing just that. He outright lied.
