What do you think? Be honest, I won't mind!
Hi allI've had a go at writing a little poem, I've never written one before.
What do you think? I've called it "I've had enough of winter".
It’s just two weeks since Christmas
And I think you ought to know
That I’ve had enough of winter –
The rain. The wind. The snow.
The Christmas lights are packed away,
The tree’s no longer there.
Holly, ivy, wreaths – all gone
And the house seems very bare.
The sky is grey and heavy,
There’s hardly any sun.
And even the hardiest fitness freaks
Rarely go out for their run.
The birds have stopped their singing
And their nests are clear to see.
‘Cos the bushes lack their foliage,
And there’s no leaves upon the trees.
The days are short and dismal,
The sun sets mid-afternoon.
We stay in by the warming fire
And dream of Flaming June.
The roads are wet and slushy
And the river’s burst its banks
We’ve done nothing to our veg plot:
Gardening? No thanks!
So I’ve had enough of winter,
But soon spring will be here.
With warmer air and longer days
And barbeques and beer!

I'm no expert but I like it. I like it a lot.I like how it carries me along and makes me feel the mood, see the banal grey, the bleak weather, with a little sadness and wistfulness thrown in ..... with a little kernel of anticipation and longing breaking through in anticipation of lighter days and sunshine to come.
Please have a go at more and post them.
