Yes Julie darlin' - I received my 'gold' badge for 50 'pints', but I also received an emerald one too for 75 pints.

My husband had a boxed pen for 50 pints but his 75 pints wasn't recognised with an award. Of course that's not what he donates for

Re: Blood group?

I've no idea , I think I'm just run of the mill ordinary .

I did give blood once , while having a cup of tea I fainted and fell under the table , I was really unwell for a couple of hours , I dare not give again as it was quite worrying at the time . I wonder why I was affected after all its only a pint

Not even a pint

I often felt ill when giving blood. One of the nurses said to me that it was because my blood flowed quite quickly and suggest that I gave at a mobile unit where you are just reclined so didn't jump up from lying down

Whether there was truth in it, it worked for me and I continued to give blood until my own health stopped me

Re: Blood group?

I think everyone should know what their blood group is, in case of emergency.

I am 'B' Positive.

Re: Blood group?

Many thanks to you all for your input.
I DO feel guilty, as I have to confess that I have never given blood!
I'm not afraid of needles, however I'm not really keen on them either.

I'll be 74 by the end of April, perhaps I've left it too late to consider it?

May be Malcolm, I think there is an upper age limit but not sure what it is.

I'm not one to brag, but I am A negative.

I wouldn't want those with monkey blood to feel envious.

There's no upper age limit anymore, Malc. As long as you are fit and well enough they will be able to take blood. They ask you a few questions when you go to a session first.
