Podcast listening

Do you like podcasts? I love them and it's usually the last thing I do before falling asleep. For the past almost 3 years I've been using Pocket Casts which is available on Android and iOs.

It's given me a breakdown of how long I've been listening to podcasts using its app. I quite like geeky information:

That seems like a lot of continuous usage since April 8th 2015 - 74 days and 18 hours, far more than I've watched video, perhaps around the same or a little less usage as reading books, but far less than my music listening (wish I had stats for that). It's hard to imagine doing anything that continuous and obviously it's an hour here, 3 or 4 there, perhaps 20 minutes some days and a few days with no listening but interesting nonetheless.

Thats 1794 straight hours in 1051 days or around 1 hour 45 minutes a day. Obviously I doze to some podcasts, listen to others in full but that's a fair chunk of time. I don't watch TV but guestimate that an hour 45 per day is average for a fair amount of people - it's also the equivalent of perhaps 1 full feature film - the skipping (when I remember it) is to skip shout outs and the odd advert or 2.

I don't listen to regular radio these days - perhaps 15 minutes of news when I'm round at a friends house but I do love my podcasts with all their specialist information.

It's nothing but an audio recording Ruthio. Think of it a bit like catching up on TV programmes with iPlayer or equivalent.

Think of it like playing a piece of music on your PC from an MPEG file.

It's just an audio recording of something. Could be part of a previous radio programme. Could be a recording of some kind of discussion or debate that occured somewhere.

Could be just a regular podcast programme that someone makes, just as people make blogs on the internet.

Worth Googling podcasts as there are a lot of good resources out there.

I plan to listen to this series of podcasts on Critical Thinking and how to present an argument. A life skill imo.

http://podcasts.ox.ac.uk/series/crit...ning-beginners

The Nature of Arguments
Different Types of Arguments
Setting out Arguments Logic Book Style
What is a Good Argument? Validity and Truth
Evaluating Arguments Part One
Evaluating Arguments Part Two

These are just one set of podcasts in a much bigger library from the Phoilosophy faculty of Oxford University here:

https://www.philosophy.ox.ac.uk/podcasts

There are podcasts out there on almost any subject.
