What exactly is the point of having the armed forces on the street? Are they going to stop and search every single Asian bloke with a knapsack, a holdall or a shopping bag? No - thought not.As an aside, has anyone actually asked themselves why Muslims are so angry? No - thought not.

I completely agree with you. The government (whoever it is) have to be seen to be doing something. It wouldn't surprise me if the soldiers are there to stop reprisals against the muslim community rather than the safety of the general public.

I have no problem with the army being used to help keep areas secure thereby freeing the police up to carry out other duties.The army are often used when circumstances dictate that extra hands are required previous examples being during flooding and the foot and mouth epidemic.
