sticking toilet press in flush button

Yes this had been sticking in and not releasing meaning the water kept running in the toilet systern.

So took the plastic face panel off to look see and this is what I found

the silver press button is right at the bottom of picture.

So first thoughts was to replace and the unit price was around £50

Having removed the unit from the panel and tried it again it worked ok, so must have been an age wear in one position thing.

Putting it back together I broke a plinth retaining plastic clip
so off to B&Q for new clips £2 for a packet of 4.

I was going to get a plumber in to fix it as me and water don't like each other.
At least job done at a fraction of what I was thinking it would cost

I flushed the loo and went out for the day , arriving home I heard water and discovered the flush had stuck and been flushing 7 hours . Yes I'm on a water meter too. I paid a plumber to fix a new one think it cost me £ 40

Most of these cisterns are cheap and nasty, we have endless problems with them at work and we have about 200 of them!

Put some on a baby bud, spread where parts move and it will ease all moving parts. Magic!

I have got a silicone based aerosol called Slidex that I liberated a while back, but can't find a supplier now.

If you live in Sussex it was probably a build up of chalk from the water.

A well aimed thumb nail on the moving parts might have sorted it out..

Hi

Mine did nit stop running.

It turned out to be not only a seal but also a bit of plastic which had broken off, model was no longer made, so had to get a new one.
