Don't you dare rest in peace, Ken, if there is a heaven you make sure you keep them all laughing, including god.
I am not one who goes in for getting excited about celebs, but in Doddy's case I make an exception. When our Down's Syndrome son was at school between the ages of 4/5, before I home schooled him, he won the school's Happiness Cup. I wrote to KD telling him of this as he had written and sung the song, 'Happiness'. He wrote back insisting that when he gave a show in our area we were to be his guests and come back stage when it was over. It went on until well past midnight, and was FANTASTIC. I don't think I have ever laughed so much in my life. He was wonderful with our boy and gave him two ticking sticks.
Some years later I sent Ken one of my artwork creations, which he was kind enough to say he liked.
He will be missed I don't think we will see his like again.
Lovely story, Tara.
It just shows that celebrities can sometimes be more human than we believe they are. That was a lovely gesture from Ken Dodd for your son.
“what a beautiful day, what a beautiful day ladies for stringing your bra across the path, and shouting how’s that for a booby trap, to the postman”
Sir ken, you made us laugh, at your many wonderful jokes,
We’ll not see his like again
RIP sir ken Dodd
How wonderful for a man to be so loved and have such tributes .
Yes, I agree Muddy.
And what's more, he never needed any 'effing' and blue jokes to get an audience laughing. He was a genuinly funny man, and that's the difference.
