I left a frying pan on the stove at our previous property whilst answering the door, I nearly set the place alight!

Son often burns his toast deliberately & eats it like that, when I go to use the toaster I turn it down so it doesn't burn & it cuts out when it's done.

No, never a good idea to leave the kitchen when something's cooking, even a boiled egg.

Microwave is OK I think for very short times only.
