Boat Repair.

Whilst on holiday our boat/canoe suffered some damage so as of tomorrow there's some urgent repairs to be done so we can go away next weekend. I built the boat in 2012 and this is the first time I've had to do anything to it since then.
The hole in the side is where the boat hit the drawbar on our caravan in a storm. The impact must have seperated the seat as well.

Ouch -that is not good, Kev - but I am sure you will fix it. Canoe still looks beautiful - apart from the hole - you must be very proud of it. I enjoyed watching the progress as you built it.

Re: Boat Repair.

Repairs aside....you built this? It must be extraordinarily satisfying to put what must have taken years of learning skills, patience, and talent to create something so functional and beautiful at the same time.

I sure hope you have children, grandchildren or someone whom you can mentor to pass along your talent and expertise. This kind of craftmanship is all too rare.

Luck on the repairs and camping trip. Was the damage from the storm you encountered?

Re: Boat Repair.

Thankyou Silver Tabby and Surfermom. Yes, the damage was also a part of our holiday disaster. Strangely I'm looking forward to doing the repair. I love doing stuff like that and it might inspire me to do some more work on a little sailing boat that I'm building.

Re: Boat Repair.

All cleaned up and the new patch cut and set in place this morning plus over three hours of sanding.I've put glass mat on the inside and given it it's first coat of epoxy. Two more to go. The seat is glued up as well. To the right of the hole I cut is a crack. That's going to be tricky to fix.
