Cold radiator.

The radiator in our spare room was stone cold when we tried to put it on recently. Tony tried letting the air out but it made no difference.

All the other radiators in the house work fine.

I will probably have to pay a man to come to it as Tony has Alzheimer's and can't do much.

Anyway before I go calling plumbers out I wondered if anybody on here could have some idea why it won't get warm.

Thanks.

Re: Cold radiator.

I had a similar thing with my bathroom one, the guy that serviced my boiler said to turn off all other radiators and leave that one on. It pushes something through I think.
It worked but wouldn't suggest you do it without advice.

This is what I've done in the past as well. Worked for me.

I had a similar problem.

All my radiators have thermostats and I was advised that they often caused "blockage" problems.

With the heating on, turning down the thermostat on the cold radiator and then turning it up again, several minutes later, a few times, gradually released the blockage in my radiator.

Some times a pin get's stuck in the thermo valve if you have one fitted.

I don't know about Carol but I probably would end up in trouble trying that!

Re: Cold radiator.

@Carol,

Do you have trv's as shown above? - as stated they can stick. Sometimes they can be freed off, but sometimes need replacing.

Otherwise, you may have sludge in that rad blocking the flow.
Sometimes it's just the trv head, which is an easy diy replacement. For the body, get someone in. If flow returns when the pin is pressed down, the fault is the head. If not it's either the body or sludge in the rad.
