Python eats Pet Cat

A good result all round?

An electrician was called out to an odd job on Monday after a family spotted a python, which had eaten the family cat, curled up under their north Queensland home.

BME Electrical Services electrician Brydie Maro was on her way home from a job on Monday afternoon when she got a call from one of her regular customers at Mossman.

“I have removed snakes from her switchboard before and so she called me up and said ‘Hey we have this snake under the house and it has actually eaten the family cat,’” she said.

The electrician, who had previously worked as a wildlife handler in New South Wales for 15 years, said she was shocked when she saw the size of the scrub python.

“I looked under and I could see it all coiled up like a big pile of coils and I am thinking, ‘Wow, that is a big snake’,” she said.

Wonder if I could borrow the snake. It would save me constantly clearing up after a certain cat that has adopted my garden as a toilet.

Poor cat - I'd like to hear about cats attacking pythons.

I like pythons, one of my photos, taken a couple of years, ago shows me with my grandsons' python around my neck.

One of the first snakes I saw when I first came to Australia in the 60s was a QLD girlfriend's younger brother's pet carpet snake lying along the pelmet of their lounge room curtains.

Scary stuff.
