Are you a night owl ?

Someone has just been talking on the radio about why some seem to be more prone to health problems than others. According to the latest statistics, night people have a 10% higher risk of dying.

I use to go clubbing when i was younger, these days i fall asleep on the couch in front of the telly after my tea. I think my clubbing nights are over.

Re: Are you a night owl ?

I have never been a night owl. Even when young I liked to be in bed by about 10pm. Nowadays I like to be in bed before 9pm and I read for a while.

Re: Are you a night owl ?

I usually go to bed about midnight, although I try to go at 11pm.
Apart from Friday and Saturday, I then go to bed about 1am.
Yes I still like to go clubbing occasionally.

I don't start work until 5pm but thankfully these days I'm part time, nights were worse. But you get used to it and then can't switch off at night. So yes a night owl but I'd rather not be.

Re: Are you a night owl ?

I rarely go to bed before 1.00am and usually wake again about 2 hours later unable to get back to sleep again for another hour

I'm quite used to my sleep pattern now.

Re: Are you a night owl ?

It always seems to be 1am plus by the time, l get to bed! So in a way, l always go to bed tomorrow!

I sleep very deeply so l wonder if the quality of sleep is far more beneficial than the quantity of sleep?

I always thought it wasn’t good to lie in bed for long hours, as it could cause hardening of the arteries?

My mother always said, the hours of sleep before midnight are far more beneficial than the hours after midnight.

Yes, it is a bad habit as I rarely wake before noon.

I worked for years on a shift pattern and then I was on call-out for years after that, so staying up at night became "normal".

Nowadays, I tend to doze after my evening meal then stay up late - but I also sleep late (because I can .....)

Re: Are you a night owl ?

If I was single I would still be a night owl but we have always gone to bed at the same time with only a few exceptions.
