Re: Slimming World--anyone tried it ?

Well for the last 9, yes 9 of your posts on this thread you have found fault with everything these ladies enjoy doing, including saying that anyone who enjoys Slimming World is a 'sad, lonely and morbidly obese person.' I don't think that good 'discussion.'
Who are you to say your way is 'the right way.'? Are you a qualified nutritionist? How many S/W meetings have you attended to understand what goes on?

You say you are merely 'highlighting your views', but you should be capable of doing that in one or two posts, there is surely no need to carry on and on, wearing people down.
If they enjoy socialising and having a bit of fun at S/W, why spoil it for them, it's not hurting you.

You are just like my brother, he can't give his opinion then leave it at that. The only way to shut him up is to nod and agree with him. Then he feels he's achieved his purpose.
I have lived with this kind of verbal bullying all my life - and NO, I do not require a ten page lecture of what is, and what is not - verbal bullying now.

I don't mean to be rude, but it really gets on my wick, so I have given MY opinion, and will leave it at that. I will not be arguing with you or anyone else for another 6 pages trying to change their views.

Re: Slimming World--anyone tried it ?

I only joined Slimming World as l didn't have to pay for it! I was referred by my doctor to lose half a stone as my BP was highish, my cholesterol was 6.6 and my BMI was over 30.
I hated the razzmatazz of Slimming World, the whooping when you lost weight and the sickly sweet manner of the consultant.
I now go to Weight Busters which is more down to earth, informative and run by a nutritionist. It's my last one tomorrow and l have only got to lose another four pounds to hit my target!
I didn't think l was obese in the first place, maybe chubby but national guidelines indicated that at a size of 14-16, l was obese!
I have lost over one and a half stones and admit, l do have much more energy these days after the weight loss!

I know people like Realist and your brother and there is another way rather than nodding and agreeing ..... that's to just ignore them, which is what I've chosen to do since his/her last rant.

You can only explain so many times and if they still don't listen it's really not wasting the time and effort.

Well done! I've not heard of Weight Busters. I did try weight watchers once but I didn't like that at all. Everybody is different and what suits one doesn't suit another. I know people who stay every week for the chat session as they feel it really helps them but mostly I don't stay .... unless it's Taster night!

I think with any group a lot depends on the consultant ... I've been to other SW groups which were quite boring or cheesy but this one is really good, she's very inspiring and has lost about 5 stones herself.

Totally agree with that. It is the consultant that makes it or breaks it.

Re: Slimming World--anyone tried it ?

The consultant aty class is very good.. She runs 4 classes at our church. Plus at least 4 in the next town.. They are all very busy. So she must be doing something right. WW has just one group at our church... But not many go to it.. They have a new leader now.. So I have no idea what it she is like.. But I know the leader at SW is supportive . Helpful. Would never put you down. Her groups are all very happy groups.

I think S/W has knocked spots off W/W now.
W/W had the monopoly for too long.

Hi

One man in the village thinks Slimming World is dangerous.

I can't see why, I mean, all he did was to get his wife a course for her birthday.

Dear oh dear Mups, bullying? How silly.

Those unable to defend their positions with logical arguments are those that accuse others of bullying. Suggest you enter the debate and offer cohesive opinions, or else simply butt out.

Inventing stuff up now. I haven't offered "my way" at any stage of this debate. I've steadfastly said that all a person needs is good food education and nutrition advice which is all available freely all over the internet. It's not "my way" in any sense. Humans have been on planet Earth for 1000s of years. It is thus pretty fundamental as to what is good to eat and what is not.

I will take as long as I personally wish to put my views across. Your view on that is of no interest to me whatsoever. Read or don't read, I don't care, but don't presume to tell other posters how often they should post of what they should post.

No one is spoiling anything. We are having a debate about the merits (or not) of SW and slimming clubs in general.
People offer views and points, people respond and so it goes on.

And there is the real sentiment and arrogance. Who are you to try and shut someone up??? This is an open forum. If you can't deal with people's views that you don't agree with, or how they are posted, frankly, you are in the wrong place.
I'm not in the least interested in how you personally want other people to post. Stick to the debate imo.
