Re: So are we getting a vote on EU membership?

Dead right Barry, he has done it to win votes that he would lose to Ukip in the next GE.
All that will do is really upset the apple cart, we would be a country with no ruling party, totally in charge just a hotch potch government.

Barry, Barry Barry, How many more times do I have to explain this??? - The European Convention on Human Rights (which incidetally the UK Government had a large hand in drafting) was in 1999 incorporated into our 'domestic' legislation under the title of 'The Human Rights Act' which therefore allows UK citizens the possibility of making claims and lodging appeals in our domestic courts rather than have to make claims or lodge appeals directly to the European Court. It is only WHEN our domestic court system has been exhausted that applicants can then apply to the European Court of Human Rights, but they must seek and be granted permission to do so first.

Incidentally, the European Court of Human Rights has nothing whatsoever to do with the European Union - they are two separate entities.

Re: So are we getting a vote on EU membership?

Don't patronise me Geoff, I think we all know the part of the laws that I mean, and we all know how laws designed to protect the basic rights of people in ultra extreme circumstances have be twisted around and misinterpreted by our courts to allow all manner of murderers, terrorists, rapists and total undesireables to maintain a lifestyle in this country to which they have no right and which is to our detriment. So wherever these laws come from and whoever is in charge of them they need kicking into touch, along with a thousand other European based laws which have nothing to do with us and which are the complete antithesis to our history and culture....

Barry your attack lies, not against the Europeant Court of Human Rights nor any of the Judges, but level your attack against the judges in this coutry who, having sentenced a foreign criminal fail to add deportation to the sentence and the Border Agency which, even if Judges do impose a deportation sentence, fail to follow it up and ensure the convicted felon is ACTUALLY deported.
