Mr Clumsy was also told no cushion under the knee. The physiotherapist suggested he got a length of board with a smooth surface, like kitchen workbench, and to lie on the bed and slide his leg up and down the board, bending the knee, as many times a day as he could manage. This he did and he grudgingly admits it really did help.

Mr Mags was told to do that exercise on the bed as well, Loretta .... it brought forth a few grunts and groans!

Yes I too was given that exercise to do - with a length of plastic given to me at the hospital to make a loop under my foot and then grabbing the two ends of the plastic to pull the foot and allow the knee to bend while laying on the bed.

Make sure she doesn’t overdo things. When Mr Mags came home from hospital he wasd told not to do anything for three or four weeks ..... no lifting, no stretching up to cupboards or bending down, no lifting the kettle etc.

Also it is important she does the exercises she has been given every day.

Wishing her well with her recovery...
Thanks Mags, Clever man Mr M did he manage to keep a straight face

I am sure both of you are ready to settle in and get some well-deserved rest. I hope her pain and swelling passes quickly, and that her recovery goes smoothly. I know there is still a lot of work ahead, but everyone I know who has had this surgery say it is well worth it.

Stay cozy!
Thank you Surfermom, I think there is a lot of hard work ahead, much physio. She is not able to get out of bed at home comfortably, and difficult to get comfortable, so a number of times getting woken up it seems .
I had to this morning put her compression stocking on, OMG ! what a job, had to have 3 goes at it, and of course i cant hold her leg to do it, tried that and she went through the roof, UPPS!!
We will get there eventually

Re: Knee Relacement

Matey, your good wife needs one of these to make the job of getting socks or stockings on that much easier.

Re: Knee Relacement

Mr Clumsy had one of those zimmer frames, with wheels and a seat. It was absolutely invaluable. He used it to get out of bed and potter around the house, he could have a sit down when it got too much, no matter where he was. It folded flat so was easy to get in the car, much easier than it was getting him in the car !

The compression stocking, oh my, what a nightmare at first, but eventually he found a way to get it on and off without too much trouble, that made life easier.

I hope your wife gets on well and able to walk pain free before too much longer.

Hospital have said forget it , just lie with your knee higher than your heart about 3 or 4 times a day for about 20 mins
