Re: Garden birds
We have two feeders stuffed full of seed, we've just splashed out on some quality ( and expensive) bird seed , we have a fat ball hanger with one of those logs made from fat and mealworms, a half coconut with more fat and seed, which hangs from a tree in the back garden, and, apart from a gymnastic blackbird, and a very nervous blue tit, nothing, Nada , zilch, the bl##dy ungrateful sods,Re: Garden birds
Its breeding time folks, so birds efforts will be put into pairing and nesting so they will be spread out at new sites rather than winter feeding grounds where they will often gather in mixed flocks. Also their diet could also be changing to accommodate spring available food types better suited to breeding requirements.Re: Garden birds
We seem to have a resident group of birds that will check the bird table out each morning ,even wait on the fence ,looking through window!Re: Garden birds
This time of the year over here is a busy time for garden birds.....We have several feeders filled with p-nuts and tubs with ' Pippa seeds'. On a normal day we get dozens and dozens of Blue/Great/Crested/Coal tits and sometimes a flock of Longtailed tits, though not very often.....We see Serrins and Siskins, the odd Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Blackcaps, Wagtails and on very rare occasions a Mistlethrush or Whitethroat...And of course the Sparrow. They are in such abundance that we have hand fed them on occasions.
