Re: Needle work

Very beautiful, I've just got back into cross stitch, I tend to do it on cotton shirts or around bottom of hems of skirts, takes a bit of care washing items but it for me it's better than just doing pictures. I made a hand bag once using my embroidery it lasted years and was one of my favourite bags, puppy Rosie our late chihuahua got it when she was teething not much left of it after she had it but I think she enjoyed it as much as I did

Beautiful Eliza, so sorry you can no longer do it. I never had the patience to sew.

Re: Needle work

What beautiful intricate work Eliza
I used to like embroidery but find it difficult to hand sew anyting these days because of my stiff fingers and poor eyesight.

Re: Needle work

Enjoyed looking at those Eliza....took me back to when I had a thing for embroidery.

My gran died and she had about a 100 packets of embroidery and their silks. Think they went back to the 40s era, but not sure now as it was a long time ago.
Anyway, there were tablecloths, little runners, those settee/chair protection covers and cushion covers.
I did every one and really enjoyed doing them too, even if they were old fashioned.

Recently I thought I'd get back into embroidery, but there's nothing that takes my fancy....it all seems to be related to cross stitching, which isn't my thing.

I used to make my own clothes and loved doing them by hand rather than the machine. Loved the hippy type era and the long skirts and dresses. Always liked to do a bit of embroidery on them somewhere

Julie....I made a handbag too out of patches of leather in different colours, but used the machine for that.
