Re: Mammoths

They should be focusing on saving the Asian Elephant an endangered species and closest to the mammoth they are thinking about bringing back.

Re: Mammoths

Its all very well re-creating the Mammoths, but has anyone had any thoughts about the by-product and how they will dispose of it???

Not having a garden and not having 'green fingers' I wouldn't know, but given the size of these mammoths that must be an awful lot of by-product and therefore a super abundance of roses.

Re: Mammoths

Another expert on the matter said that he didn't think it would happen. At least not for a VERY long time.

Problem being, they can't put an embryo into an elephant as the size of the baby could probably kill the elephant.

So, they are talking about creating an artificial womb.

That brings it's own problems due to the fact there would be no animal that could be parent to baby mammoth , showing how to fend for itself, what to eat how to behave with other mammoths , as there wouldn't be any to learn from. So an experiment which is likely to fail from beginning to end.

I sometimes wish these scientists would come down to earth put the money to good use, instead of trying to pursue their own dreams.

Re: Mammoths

Mammoths were the same size as African elephants so there would be no problem in the size of the baby.

Re: Mammoths

If they suceed what would hapen to the animal? Would they destroy the baby or aĺlow the creature to grow? You can bet any life they allowed would be on their terms just as the end of the creatures life would be.

If somewhere recreated the mathmoth people would flock to see it .
It would be worth a fortune .
so I am sure it would be looked after.
