Re: Appendicitis

Julie we all try to find a logical reason why people are ill, but we don't have X-ray glasses so we can't see what is going on.... it isn't your fault!
Look on the bright side, Nathan should be home and well soon and you may have put him off take-aways for a while.

Re: Appendicitis

Hi Julie,
Hope all goes well with Nathan, and I wish him a speedy recovery.

I can well remember when I was suffering pains and saying to my Mum who was ironing, 'I think I have appendicitis'.

Her response? 'You can't have appendicitis you nit! We're going on holiday'.

Well, not long after that talk I was sick, still went to work next day and had to leave as I was in agony. So Mum said I could go to the doctors, but STILL had to make my own way there! GP immediately diagnosed, yes, appendicitis, told me to get up to hospital, (parents then took me in the car) and I was operated on that night!

And guess who missed the first few days of their holiday? Yep, me. Sis and BiL were staying at our home to look after the dog and Dad paid for BiL to accompany me over to Jersey where the family was on holiday. He had a nice day trip there!

Mum reckoned I was always crying wolf, which is why she didn't believe me. Thanks, Mum! My suffering went on for a few weeks.

Re: Appendicitis

Lucky they caught it in time Julie. Appendix can rupture otherwise.
Let's hope he's soon home and better again.

Re: Appendicitis

He's fine asking for us to take in various items of food and clothing. When he asks for food I always think he's on the mend.

Re: Appendicitis

That is good news Julie. It is hard to believe that at this time, yesterday, he was on the operating table.
I am sure he will be home soon.

Yeah Julie darlin' - that's one way of telling if someone is ill - they're off their food. In fact, its the only true way of telling for me. I'd have to be on 'death's door' for me to lose my appetite!!!

Re: Appendicitis

Not this Christmas Eve just gone but the previous.
I went to my gp's I was having tremendous lower stomach pains. She whips me on the bed and does a bit of probing. Then she says I need to go to hospital shall she call and ambulance or did I come with somebody. I said I came with somebody because no way do I want all the fuss of an ambulance. I drove to the hospital the doctor gets the results of the scan and was really jovial and he said that I would be going to surgery that afternoon and getting my appendix out. "Worrying time".
The surgeon comes into the ward and comes over to me with smiler by his side. Looks at me and asks is everything all right.
No I said I have about 20% lung function and if I go under I may never wake. He immeadaitely tells smiler to get me on antibiotics through the drip. I must have went through 4 of them bags and Christmas Day at 6pm they let me go home.
I was ruddy starving because all the while I was not allowed food incase they had to rush me into theatre.
Phew.
Touchwood the appendix pain as not returned and I hope it never does.
Bloody painful experience.
I hope Nathan is recovering well.
