Julie, I'd stay away from anything German, especially with an auto box, diesel is also a no no unless you do a lot of miles or tow caravans ect, Stick with Japanese or Korean, for reliability and long warranties ( kia 7 year)
I agree wit you there Primus. The Jap cars are still the most reliable (confirmed by our local repair shop).
I read somewhere that the v-tec engine is one of the most reliable engines ever produced.
Out of the millions made they have never had to recall a single one for catastrophic failure.
Believe it or not, I was driving mine around for a month without a drop of engine oil (Even the local garage can't decide where it went - no leaks - no burning). Filled it up with new oil and haven't had any problems whatsoever.
