Interesting reading.

There will be excuses made.

Politicians people will never learn.

Come here sssh. They do not tell the truth but they make great second hand car salesmen. Hey but that's not fair to honest hard working people.

Take that last bit back. Any Car Salesmen looking for a job. Apply to number 10

Re: Phil Hammond -v- the Media

Its a storm in a teacup whipped up by parties with vested interests. Some will be better off, others worse, Most of the people who are complaining make no mention that they will be able to receive the same benefits and rights as the employed, which they currently don't currently.

Neither are they a part of the economy that produce anything useful. They are the journalists and media commenters etc, people who are classed a freelance. generally known as S/E for tax purposes. People who's terms of work, the BBC is being made to review for example.

As for broken promises.. well Hammond did make a hash of that but in the end it wasn't his promise. David Cameron was foolish to make it simply because he should to have known he couldn't or shoudn't tie the hands of a future government.

It's his party's promise so he can't distance himself from it.

Hi

One of my neighbours is Self Employed, a Computer Consultant.

He has only worked for one company for the last few years.

That is not genuine self employment.

It's not and he will be hit by IR35 from April which means he falls under paye and everything as a normal employee would. In most such cases this will mean tax liability goes up.

Well that may be, but he has to do what he thinks is best for the country at this time. certainly if I were chancellor or any other government minister I wouldn't feel bound by someone else's word. You have to be realistic and deal with the circumstances as they are.

Then perhaps he should say that and then explain what circumstances have changed. Oops! I forgot he is not allowed to mention the"B" word!

Perhaps he assumed most sensible people, other than those with an axe to grind, would know that.
