Possible 2nd Scottish Referendum

The previous Referendum, which was supposed to be a once in a lifetime experience, cost £16 million to run.

Is it too much to hope that if Mrs. Sturgeon manages to force a new one, that is financed from the Scotland coffers . and not by the rest of the UK?

So it should be and, better still, give us English a vote too.

Once they're independent, all the money spent on the Barnett Formula would be better spent on the NHS.

It will be interesting to see how it develops.

Re: Possible 2nd Scottish Referendum

Perhaps the parameters of the next independence referendum should be changed from whether the Scots want to leave the or remain part of the UK to should the Scots be ejected or be allowed to remain as part of the UK?

ETA. Saw this item in the Spectator - maybe the fish woman's real reason for wanting another referendum. Her waning popularity and wanting to distract the Scots away from her `fiddling while Scotland burns` instead of addressing Scotland's problems. Nothing like a bit of nationalism to take the mind of the real issues.

Remember if there is a referendum and Sturgeon loses there is now a precedent for standing down when losing as Salmond and Cameron did .
Does she really want to risk losing all....

You really can't understand her attitude. If she does get the result she wants and Scotland leaves the UK, the Scots will go from having at least some say in Westminster to none at all if by some miracle they become part of the EU.

I can't even begin to understand the woman's logic Judd , I can only assume she is so blinded by the thought of independence it clouds her judgment over everything else...

Re: Possible 2nd Scottish Referendum

My thoughts are that she's bluffing. Bluffing to get her own way, but whilst she threatens another referendum , at the same time it's hardly likely that she'll achieve any satisfaction from Westminster.

They're not going to give everything away to her in an attempt to stop one, and then give even more away to her again, through the possibility of breaking away from the rest of the UK with intentions of staying within the EU.

So a referendum for staying with the EU is still an option for her as well, no matter what, even if they vote against staying with UK.

I dare say she's beavering away with EU politicians behind the scenes though.

Hmmm ? Does that make sense ?

Re: Possible 2nd Scottish Referendum

So Nicola Sturgeon has finally officially thrown down the gauntlet to the government that she will demand a second independence referendum next autumn.

Personally I think that would be economic suicide for Scotland and that really it is more about Nicola's fanaticism than what is best for the scottish people.

Re: Possible 2nd Scottish Referendum

She is in for a big surprise as the Scots are turning against her. Perhaps she should have waited to see how SNP does in the May local elections.
