Wreckage of crashed helicopter R116 found off Mayo coast

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-39354543

The wreckage of Irish Coast Guard helicopter R116 has been found off the Mayo coast in the Republic of Ireland, officials have said.

Search crews said they were "hopeful" the bodies of the three missing crew could be inside.

The families of Captain Mark Duffy, winch operator Paul Ormsby and winchman Ciaran Smith have been informed of the latest development.

The wreck has been located about 60m off Blackrock island, and is lying on the seabed at a depth of about 40m, the Irish Coast Guard said.
Let's hope that both bodies and black box can be recovered.

R116 coastguard helicopter: Black box recorder found

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-39377418

The black box recorder from a rescue helicopter that crashed last week has been recovered, the Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit (IAAIU) has said.

The chief inspector with the IAAIU Jurgen Whyte said: "We're happy to announce we had a positive recovery of the data recorder at 1630 from the seabed just off Blackrock".
Mr Whyte said the recorder will be brought to Dublin before being sent to the UK air accident investigation branch where it will be prepared for download, hopefully successfully by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

The search to locate the bodies of crew members continues.
So far, so good.

A small consolation for family and friends.
