Re: Colonic Irrigation

A friend of ours was into all this years ago, he was absolutely sure it helped with all sorts of things, I wouldn't knock it as it does seem to work for some things.
A blockage can be a killer so I can see why they proposed it, I'm surprised a nurse can say no to a procedure though if it's been arranged by the doctor.

I know it's a popular self help thing to detox too many alternative therapists use the technique.

Never been tempted my self but it seems useful for some people.

Re: Colonic Irrigation

Could the friend not use the laxative normally handed out for clearing the colon prior to a colonoscopy? By heck it's really effective! Trouble is, of course, you can't eat for the days you're on the stuff, but it leaves the insides squeaky clean.

I suppose the reasoning behind the CI is it's an invasive and harsh procedure, and will most probably get to the 'blockage' quicker than any other method.

Wasn't it once cited as being involved in Marilyn Monroe's death?

Re: Colonic Irrigation

I have had it done and found it helpful. This is while waiting for NHS appointment.

I wonder why the nurse refused?

Re: Colonic Irrigation

There was a health and fitness program on the telly a few years ago, and the people on the show had to go into a room and have a tube put into their bum and have all the toxins and impurities flushed out of them, it showed what came out afterwards and it looked similar stuff when you have your ears syringed... And no it wasn't poo.. It looked like hard lumps of fat and gunge... Yuck!!

Yes that's all the impacted stuff that's clinging to the walls...

I was wondering how far into the colon the irrigation goes, the answer is all the way, i didn't know that.
Each colonic irrigation session is equal to 30 enemas. Yikes!!!
Pretty effective then.

This is interesting...All your questions answered.
