Chips.

My daughter bought us an Actifry for Christmas so tonight for the first time I made chips in it.

They're ok but Tony said he preferred them done the usual way in a chip pan of sunflower oil.

How do you make yours?

Re: Chips.

Home made oven chips

Slice King Edwards into fingers,
..blanch for a few moment (about 4)
..drain in a sieve and dry,
..back in the sauce pan,
..sprinkle with olive oil,
..sieve again to remove excess oil,
..lay on preheat oven tray and put in hot oven 220 for 20/30 mins turning once.
Springle with salt to taste if you eat it.

Low fat/crisp and delicious.

Re: Chips.

deep fried in sunflower oil I like to make them long thin like french fries so they don't seem so naughty that way. But I don't make them often as they are of course totally unhealthy & bad for reflux, arteries etc. (but so yummy moreish as an occasional treat).

I cannot eat oven chips. They just don't taste like the real thing to me. If I want something similar than I will saute sliced, cooked potatoes - this is really nice when they are cooked new potatoes with the skin still on.

Re: Chips.

We very rarely have chips now but I would probably do them in the oven if we did.

oh yes I persuaded my mum to buy the stuff. I didn't realise you could still get it. It was smash and Angel delight. Nutritional bliss.

Nothing wrong with Smash Fender. I loved that stuff, I liked the elasticity of it.

Ever tried it in a sandwich?

Re: Chips.

I always cook McCain oven chips, they remind me of McDonald's fries. If I'm feeling particularly junk food inspired, I sometimes fry them in olive oil.
