Re: Why is Bail being allowed?
Hi
An example, the recent attack.
The Police pick up anyone who has contact with the assailant.
It takes time to establish whether or not that contact is totally innocent.
They take a judgement call.
Those who they think may be genuinely innocent, are released on bail, pending further inquires.
Those who they think have a more immediate case to answer are not.
Detaining someone without due reason is just not fair, they can be totally innocent but have their life destroyed because of it.
So, some examples from the attack on Parliament.
Some have been arrested and then released without charge.
Just unfortunate enough to have had contact with the man.
The people who were unfortunate enough to live in the same building as him, always a prime suspect, easy enough to clear after a short time.
His landlord, the people who rented him the car, the young lad, working his way through Uni, who delivered his takeaways.
A process of elimination.
We need to trust the professionals, not blame anyone who had contact with him.
Most of those arrested have been released and told they are innocent and been apologised to.
A few remain in custody, but under review.
