Re: Could you sleep in a house if you knew it had mice?

When my girlfriend and I split up back in 2010 I went to live for a while in a room above a stable which was part of an old manor house. I could never sleep properly there as there were rats and mice. One morning while I was lying in bed the stable cat brought me a baby rat. I was out that bed like lightening.

Used to live on ships with Rats, or mice, or Bombay-Six-Wheelers!

You knew they were nearby when you saw the top slice of your sandwich moving!

All mice and rats should be exterminated by any means possible.

Wonderful pets, loved them to bits.So intelligent and friendly and cute. I used to pop them down the neck of my top and take them out when I walked the dog

We or rather my son had pet rats too, they were very tame, clean & didn't smell & they would climb up onto our shoulders for safety if they felt threatened. They had the run of the living room, supervised of course, most evenings. Sadly they don't live long, just over 2 years & after the second pair of females & my son getting so upset when they died, we said no more ratties, it's too upsetting. I never quite got used to their bald tails either.

This one was Pixie.

Nice quote by nice nickname
Anyway, my daughter had guinea pigs and mice as pets once. I have nothing against rodents if they're bought from a certified breeder and got vaccinated (yeah, that's possible). In case of wild ones, I have nothing against too until they get in my cellar or my house. It is said here that mice can carry salmonella (besides plague and typhus) which I find the most disgusting thing.
